Prophecy of the Setting Sunrise Blog Tour: Interview and Quiz!

Hello! Today I'm participating in The Oracle of Delphi Series blog tour, a great series based on greek myth by author Diantha Jones. The second book in the series, Prophecy of the Setting Sunrise was released yesterday and I was lucky enough to get an ARC of it which I devoured and really enjoyed. I loved the first book in the series, Prophecy of the Most Beautiful so check out my review if you fancy the look of it.

Here on my blog today I have an author interview and a great greek mythology quiz! :)

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: DIANTHA JONES

Hi Diantha! Can you tell us all a little bit about yourself?

Well, I grew up as a U.S. Army brat. Now I'm just a brat. I've met a lot of different people, and been a lot of wonderful places in the world. But there's no place I'd rather be than in my bed. With a good book, preferably. I love coffee, cheese fries, and grapes (cheese is good with grapes, too.) I'm a rare soul that prefers eBooks over paperbacks and I'm at my best when the sun is nowhere to be seen. Yup, you guessed it. I'm a vampire.

What do you do when you are not busy writing?

Catching up on my shows! I have a LONG list of television shows that I watch and when I'm burnt out and can't write another word, I spend a few hours being lazy, eating the most unhealthy food in my house, and watching TV. Online, most of the time.

When did you first pick up a pen and start writing? Have you always loved writing?

I'll be honest and say that I haven't always had a passion for writing. Reading, YES. Writing, not so much. I always had the talent, but it wasn't until I was older that I realized where this talent could take me. To the stars and beyond, if I'm blessed enough.

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in your writing?

There are definitely books I've read that have sparked my imagination and given it wings to soar. But I can't say that any particular author has influenced me. At least, not in the sense that I want to be like them. I want to be like me, only better.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Well, the first two books in the Oracle of Delphi series, Prophecy of the Most Beautiful and Prophecy of the Setting Sunrise, are available now! Pending any world wars or apocalypses, the third book, Prophecy of Solstice's End, will be out Summer 2013. But even before that, the series hero, Strafford Law, will be getting his own book called, Solar Defeated, which will be released in April. I have a short story series called Unknowing, and I will be releasing an alien romance called Invasion soon. I have a busy year ahead of me!

I loved your first book, Prophecy of the Most Beautiful! Can you give a brief synopsis of the Oracle of Delphi series so far?

Everyone in Adel, Georgia thinks Chloe Clever is crazy. Even she thinks she's crazy. But that's all before she learns that her freakish hallucinations are symptoms of being the Oracle of Delphi, the prophesier of the future. With a squad of demigods by her side, she enters a world of Greek gods and magic beyond her wildest imagination. As Chloe's first journey of discovery ends in Prophecy of the Most Beautiful, she is thrust into a second quest, one that will bring to light just how dangerous and deceitful this new world Myth can be. In Prophecy of the Setting Sunrise, she will have to come to terms with a few terrible secrets and finally make peace with who she has become.

If you could meet any of the characters within the book who would you choose and why?

I would definitely choose one of the gods. Probably Apollo, maybe Aphrodite. Not sure why really. I just like them. I'd have to at least say hi to Cupid though. He's my fave mythical character!

The modernisation of the Greek Gods within the series is just genius. How much fun was the book to write and how did you come up with such a great idea?!

I had a blast writing both books though it was hard, hard work. I loved Greek myth anyway and had always planned the setting to be in modern times. It still took a lot of research and forethought because I didn't want to lose the historical nature of the myths despite the setting. I wanted the gods to maintain their archaic qualities, and though they are quite modern, I definitely feel they held onto some of their old world appeal.

Imagine this: Your book is being made into a movie. Who would you cast to play the characters in your books and why?

Funny! I've been asked this question twice before! Here is my lineup:

Chloe: Sophie Turner (Sansa in Game of Thrones) or Emma Stone
Strafford Law: Paul Wesley (Vampire Diaries) or Jared Padalecki (But honestly, I think it would be better if a nobody was casted for this role)
Ace Remedy: Again, another nobody would be better suited for Ace. Partially because I can't think of anybody good.
Swindle: Jayden Smith (Will Smiths son; He would be PERFECT)
Hector and Theseus: Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four; He could play both twins)

Lastly, who is favourite Greek god/goddess and why? Also what is your favourite greek myth?

Cupid! I absolutely love the story of Cupid and Psyche and how they fell in love. By far, my favorite myth of them all.
