Booking Through Thursday #1

So this is my first Booking Through Thursday post as I saw this meme and thought it would be great to fill in my Thursdays from now on. The question for this week is:

If you could write a book, what would it be about, and why?

Over the past few years I've jotted down a few ideas for some stories but never got really far with them. They're all fantasy stories though as it is my favourite genre and I'm just completely inspired by all the great fantasy writers out there; Tolkien, George R. R Martin etc. Why can't I write some amazing fantasy story filled with magic and adventure like they did?! A few years ago I did start to write a few chapters of a fantasy story but then stopped and ended up deleting it by accident. So I'm back to square one again. I think the hardest thing is finding something original that hasn't been done to death before, or if it is something that has been written about before then what new spin can I put on it. I also love drawing maps and cities and building a world and I think would be my favourite part. Hmm, maybe I should start back up again?

  1. Sounds like the muse is calling you! I love that you like to draw maps and create worlds. Shows you have a great imagination. Maybe you'll join me to participate in National Novel Writing Month this year?

  3. Maybe you should... :-)

I've decided that the world is better off without me writing books.

  5. Yes finding something original is almost impossible now a days because really we write what we remember and being avid readers, it's hard to write originality. thanks for stopping by and for answering my question!

  7. Being original would be one of the hardest things, I think. But it would be fun to invent a whole new place with maps and everything!

  9. It's always fun to write your own stories and once you have ideas, you should give it a try!

  10. Coming up with something new is absolutely horrible! I once was sharing an idea I had for a book only for one friend to comment that it was very much like ‘such and such’ book. I was heartbroken even though I had never heard of the book before. Turns out we both had the same idea for our heroine. I think you should take one of your ideas and work with it. See if you can come up with a draft or something. You never know!
