On My Wishlist #4

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly meme hosted on a saturday over @Book Chick City. Basically you just share with everyone a book or two that has been clogging up your wishlists for a while. The books can be new, old or forthcoming. You can link it up to Mr Linky and check out everyone else's wishlists :) I find myself adding books to my wishlist everyday so it keeps growing and growing, never getting any smaller. So many books to read and so little time!

The Iron King (Iron Fey #1) - Julie Kagawa
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

I've seen this book mentioned everywhere and it looked so good and very intriguing so I check it out on goodreads. I really want to buy all the books in the series because the covers are just so nice, but I think I'm going to trawl the library during the easter holidays because I want to read them asap :)

Kushiel's Dart (Kushiel #1) - Jacqueline Carey
The land of Terre d'Ange is a place of unsurpassing beauty and grace. It is said that angels found the land and saw it was good...and the ensuing race that rose from the seed of angels and men live by one simple rule: Love as thou wilt.

Phèdre nó Delaunay is a young woman who was born with a scarlet mote in her left eye. Sold into indentured servitude as a child, her bond is purchased by Anafiel Delaunay, a nobleman with very a special mission...and the first one to recognize who and what she is: one pricked by Kushiel's Dart, chosen to forever experience pain and pleasure as one.

Phèdre is trained equally in the courtly arts and the talents of the bedchamber, but, above all, the ability to observe, remember, and analyze. Almost as talented a spy as she is courtesan, Phèdre stumbles upon a plot that threatens the very foundations of her homeland. Treachery sets her on her path; love and honor goad her further. And in the doing, it will take her to the edge of despair...and beyond. Hateful friend, loving enemy, beloved assassin; they can all wear the same glittering mask in this world, and Phèdre will get but one chance to save all that she holds dear.

Set in a world of cunning poets, deadly courtiers, heroic traitors, and a truly Machiavellian villainess, this is a novel of grandeur, luxuriance, sacrifice, betrayal, and deeply laid conspiracies. Not since Dune has there been an epic on the scale of Kushiel's Dart-a massive tale about the violent death of an old age, and the birth of a new.

I've heard some great stuff about this book from reviews and friends on goodreads. I love fantasy but it also seems a little different from all the usual stuff; I may be wrong so I will just have to read it to find out!

What's on your wishlist this week?
