Wishlist Wednesday #6

I've been neglecting my blog terribly these past two weeks and now I've started a new job I'll have less time to come on here! But I made sure to do my two wednesday posts that I love doing with Wishlist Wednesday being one of my favourites to do every week. Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over @Pen to Paper. Its a great way of posting about books we're all dying to get our hands on.

The Hobbit - J. R. R.Tolkien
(Goodreads)

The enchanting prelude to The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit is the story of Bilbo Baggins, a quiet and contented hobbit whose life is turned upside down when he joins the wizard Gandalf and thirteen dwarves on their quest to reclaim stolen treasure. It is a journey fraught with danger and in the end it is Bilbo Baggins alone who must face the guardian of this treasure, the most dreaded dragon in all Middle-earth.

I really couldn't find a book on my wishlist this week to post about so I decided to include The 7oth Anniversary Edition of The Hobbit that I recently added to my Christmas Wishlist (early I know, but I like being prepared!). I absolutely love Tolkien and love, love, love this little tale of adventure. I realised that I didn't really have a nice copy of this book and seeing as I collect Tolkien books and have a lovely hardback version of The Lord of the Rings, I came to the conclusion that I needed a nice hardback copy for my shelves. I'm also so excited about the first film coming out in December! :)

  1. I haven't read this one yet, or the Lord of the Rings trilogy (I haven't seen the movies either), but I do want to. Great pick. :)

  2. OOH, The Hobbit is my second favorite Tolkien book (my favorite being The Silmarillion), and it's my favorite of his "novel" style books.

    Excellent choice!

  3. Pretty! I was a bit skeptical about the book at first (I started it 4 times before) but I stuck to it and loved it! I have the whole J R R Tolkien bunch, except Unfinished Tales I think. :)

  4. You know I think I read this when I was in high school and had a hard time understanding the Tolkien world. Thanks for dropping by.

  7. This is also one of my favourites. And I can't wait for the movie either!! The trailers for it look fantastic.
