Feature & Follow #4

Hi everyone! :) Feature & Follow is a weekly blog hop hosted over @ Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read.

How to join in:
Feature & Follow is all about making new friends and following new great blogs. The whole point of this blog hop is to gain more followers and follow those in return. You follow me, I follow you in return etc. Each week both blogs will showcase a Featured blogger each. If you participate in this blog hop you must follow both of the hosts as a courtesy.
Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can't deal with bad editing?

If I can't get into the story within a few chapters then sometimes I will stop with the book altogether and put it aside to try another time. I need to get utterly sucked in by a story and I think the first few chapters should be captivating and exciting and not completely confuse the reader or bore them. I can think of two books this year that I put aside because of this reason; The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater and Serpahina by Rachel Hartman. I just couldn't get into The Scorpio Races at all and I was completely confused and bored by Seraphina's opening chapters. I will definitely try and read Seraphina in the future though as it was a book I was looking forward to because of one thing; dragons!

  1. I agree! Ours is very similar this week!

Thanks for checking out my FF!

  2. I totally get what you mean! I hate it when a book starts slow and ends up staying slow throughout the whole thing.

Thanks for stopping by the blog! I'm a new follower. :)

  3. So very true, if a book can't grab my attention from the first couple chapters, the whole book tends to be just as bad.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I also need to get sucked into a book in the first couple of chapter or I already know this book isn't going to work for me.

  5. I have a really hard time putting a book down. It's like leaving a present unopened. I just have to keep going, so a slow book isn't a deal breaker for me.
Thanks for stopping by and following. Old follower via GFC.

  10. I definitely agree! I feel as if I need to completely understand what's going on or else I don't like the book. Sometimes I take notes and I finally end up putting the pieces together later on.

  11. I definitely get what you're saying for sure! It sucks when the book not only doesn't grab you right away! I'm usually pretty devoted and keep going though...then it's even worse when you're never rewarded cause it never picks up >.< Thanks for sharing & for stopping by my FFF earlier!

  12. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yes, that's true. When a book is boring, I just put it down and start another book.
